If the problem persists, contact the program vendor."
If you open a PDF file with Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, or any other program not intended for opening PDF files, you will see a bunch of "gibberish" and symbols.
SOLUTION
In order view PDF files, you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader 4 or newer installed on your computer. The newest version is always recommended. Version 4 is the oldest version that might work, but if you are still using version 4, you may be able to view and print some files, and not others.
Not sure what version you have? Please go into Adobe Reader, click on 'Help' then 'About Acrobat' - The version number will be displayed. Click here to visit Adobe's site to download the latest version for free.
After you download and install Acrobat Reader, you MUST restart your computer in order to activate the new version. If you get the new version and you STILL get the same error messages, it is because your computer is still using the old version. It may be necessary to uninstall the old version in order to get the new one installed properly.
* Mac users may have a built-in PDF viewer called "Preview" If you have an alternate PDF viewer, you may not need Adobe Acrobat Reader. |
